The design site is located in an ancient village full of sunken cave dwellings.These cave dwellings have a long history and obvious characteristics, and are valuable for protection and renovation. ”Pit Courtyard,” is a unique architectural form found mainly in Loess Plateau region.These underground courtyards were built by excavating into the loess soil, creating sunken living spaces with courtyards enclosed by earthen walls.Many of these underground courtyards are abandoned and uninhabited.The reason is that these courtyards lack cohesion and livability.Therefore, in addition to solving the problem of living comfort, we also need to solve people’s inner emotional needs in our design.
Our installations not only improve the comfort of cave dwellings, but also enhance the cohesiveness of the courtyard for families by creating public spaces.
