2024 - The Alchemy of Light and Water

Water resources have always been an important factor restricting human development, due to the uneven distribution of global water resources. Especially in the surrounding areas of the Sahara Desert, the problem of water scarcity is becoming increasingly severe, directly affecting the food production, food security, and even territorial security of countries around the Sahara. Freshwater resources have become an important factor restricting local development. To address this issue, the Gaitala Depression Distillation Plan has been officially proposed, which aims to use the strong light radiation and vast geographical area of desert areas to distill and desalinate nearby seawater, and obtain electricity through terrain differences, in order to meet the freshwater and electricity needs of surrounding countries without consuming external resources.
