SUNLIGHT BOND
Currently, the intervention and educational system for children with autism is well-established, but adult autistic individuals are often hidden in the crowd. They call for opportunities to be self-sufficient, social recognition, and a safe place to live. Providing jobs in social engagement, such as taming stray cats, could be a good solution.
We reconstruct a residential building in an urban village in Shenzhen, China. By combining reinforcement learning with architectural design, we have optimized the building’s orientation, window design, and structural layout to maximize the introduction of natural light and create a diverse yet comprehensible architectural space. We hope that through the common need for sunlight, we can not only create a good living environment but also use sunlight as a bond to connect adult autistic individuals, stray cats, building, and society together.
