Natural light and space are fundamental elements that should always go together to improve the well-being of families. A home with abundant natural light favors the physical and mental health of its inhabitants, creating warm and welcoming environments that encourage family interaction and feeling of comfort. The spatial design, for its part, must consider the needs and activities of the family, providing common areas to share moments, private areas for individual rest and flexible spaces that adapt to different uses. The right combination of these elements creates a healthy, welcoming and functional environment where the family can flourish and build lasting memories.
Natural light and space are inseparable elements in architecture, as demonstrated by the architect Alberto Kalach, who conceives light and space as inseparable elements that dialogue with each other, light defines and modulates the space, while the space at its side It simultaneously receives and transforms light, creating a fluid and constant dynamic. Natural light not only illuminates spaces, but also sculpts them, evokes emotions, defines them and gives them a unique atmosphere.
Natural and artificial light are not rivals, but two parts of a beautiful dance. Sunlight, like an orchestra conductor, sets the rhythm of the day, while artificial light, a skillful dancer, adapts to each movement, filling the spaces where natural light fades. Together, they create a symphony of lighting that enhances our spaces and envelops us in an atmosphere of well-being and tranquility.
The project is proposed in the founding center of Usme (Bogotá, Colombia), where throughout its history constructions that created spaces, generated atmospheres and expressed the cultural identity of the territory are evident. This project is divided into three large stages starting with pre-Hispanic times where the Muiscas built their homes and temples oriented towards the sun, taking advantage of natural light to illuminate their interiors and heat their homes; The colonial era continues where churches, convents and government buildings were characterized by their large windows, which allowed the entry of natural light and created bright spaces. 20th century where buildings were built with a greater number of windows, making the most of natural light. Currently, translucent materials and bioclimatic designs are used to make the most of sunlight, reducing electrical energy consumption, and artificial lighting is used strategically to create atmospheres and highlight specific architectural elements.
The use of natural light is achieved through large inclined windows that capture sunlight during different hours of the day, creating a play of light and shadow that transforms the space over time. The spaciousness of the space allows the light to diffuse freely, filling each corner with a natural luminosity, intensifying the natural light. A series of strategically placed skylights allow light to filter into the interior, creating focal points and accentuating the beauty of the architecture.
The historic centers are a trip to the past, where history breathes in every corner. Its cobblestone streets, colonial houses and ancestral squares tell stories of a people, their struggles, victories, traditions and customs that have shaped their identity.
Imagine a home bathed in natural light, where clarity is transformed into comfort and harmony, wake up with the sun, enjoy a cozy living room, an illuminated kitchen and a bedroom that is a haven of peace, an illuminated inclined balcony awaits you to enjoy a play of lights and shadows. More than a home, this space invites you to feel good and create unforgettable memories. A home that captivates you with its warmth and harmony, a place you will want to return to again and again, and from which you will never want to leave.
Lines and circles intertwine in a dance, creating a harmonious play of light and shadow. Straight and horizontal lines provide stability and order, while curves and diagonals inject dynamism and movement into the project. The circles, for their part, become light sources attracting the viewer’s gaze, a setting where light and shadow become protagonists, enhancing the shapes and creating a unique atmosphere
