Background:
In China, ancestor worship is a traditional custom with a long history and deeply valued, rooted in the heart of every Chinese. During the Hungry Ghost Festival, people are used to burning paper at intersections to express their respect and yearning for their ancestors.
However, this traditional method of ancestor worship not only has safety risks, but also has a serious impact on urban air quality and traffic, which is contrary to urban development goals.
Introduction:
To solve these problems, we have come up with an innovative project – Live Forever. The project uses photoelectric technolog to simulate the traditional process of burning paper to worship ancestors, and presents the solemnity and sanctity of the ceremony through light and shadow effects, while avoiding various hazards caused by actual burning paper. This analog device can not only inherit and protect Chinese ancestor worship culture in the urban
development, but also effectively protect the environment and promote the sustainable
development of the city.
Process:
STEP 1:
When people stand on the footprint,pressure sensing device detects and the outer ring lights up,which provide entrants with a sense of ritual.It also serve as street lighting facilities except
the Hungry Goast festival.
STEP 2:
People Swipe the information card,which contains the image of your ancestor.At the same time, lotus texture light appears which is oringinated from chinese ancestor wordship culture.
STEP 3:
Meanwhile the card also has the function of buying spiritual money,and light in the middle emits after transaction, and breaks down the items from the bottom up, taking them to the hell.
