the project is a public service building containing a library at the first and second floor in poznan, greater poland. the placement only allows for the sun to enter the interior from sunrise to around 12 pm – to counter the lack of natural light at later hours a specific curtain wall elevation was designed. it consists of repeating geometric structures who are placed at an angle and are covered with reflecting material which will catch remaining sunlight and guide it towards the interior. additionally, based on the sites location, angles at which the sun is shining during the year were calculated – using that information upper part of the structures has been angled so that it: blocks harsh sunlight during summer reflects winter sunlight at a 90 degree angle the curtain wall blocks too much additional sunlight before noon and creates an interesting effect in the interior alongside the designed wood furnishing.
