Natural sun rays are a gift from nature and have a special healing effect on children with autism.
Some studies have shown that children with autism experience a significant boost in mood and concentration when exposed to sun rays. This is because rays such as the red and blue colours of the sun’s rays improve their emotional state and enhance their understanding of and attention to their environment.
In natural sun rays, autistic children can also feel nature breathing on them, which can help them relax and reduce stress and anxiety. In addition, natural sun rays can promote their physical health, boost their immunity and reduce the incidence of illness.
Natural sunlight is therefore a very important healing tool for autistic children.
We wanted to design a place that would cater for the needs of ordinary children to play, learn and communicate, as well as the special needs of autistic children, in order to enhance their interaction with the general population. To achieve this, we chose to improve the environmental quality of the entire space through effective control of daylight, which would engage both regular children and children with autism in activities and enhance communication between them.
In order to optimise light distribution, increase autistic children’s sensitivity to light and reduce visual fatigue, we have designed a unique openable device which not only effectively controls the entry of light, but also enhances the children’s sense of nature through the introduction of natural light. The device is based on the control of pressure-sensitive sensors. When a child walks near the pressure-sensitive device, the controller located on the ceiling sends a signal to open the device upwards, and the sunlight from the outdoors selectively enters towards the room, which ensures sufficient light in the room and avoids direct light, thus improving comfort and vision protection.
