We decided to design a university library with a café because lighting plays an extremely important role in libraries. While designing a library, it is crucial to avoid direct light entering the interior. Primarily, direct light negatively impacts the collections, causing paper to yellow and generally damaging books.

Another important aspect is the comfort of the users, as strong and direct light causes reflections, glare, and shadows, which can interfere with reading or using a computer. Additionally, by using protective measures, the temperature inside the room will not be as high, which also relates to the comfort of using the library.

It has also been proven that diffused light promotes a better atmosphere within the room. It’s worth mentioning that for the interior designer, it’s easier to arrange the space when they don’t have to deal with excessively strong light intensity.

In the project, corrugated metal was used, which is both aesthetic and practical. It is exceptionally light for its strength against mechanical stresses and weather conditions. Besides its structural advantages, it also stands out for its aesthetic appearance and growing popularity.

Corrugated metal provides interesting lighting effects. It disperses light, allowing for even illumination of the space, eliminating harsh shadows, and reducing contrasts, which enhances user comfort. Its shadows change depending on the angle of the sun, creating interesting visual effects. This creates a dynamic and modern atmosphere within the interior. All these aspects make corrugated metal not only a practical architectural solution but also an element that enriches the aesthetics and functionality of the project.
