The “Filter to Heal” project is designed for individuals with skin conditions such as psoriasis, vitiligo, and dermatitis, as well as those suffering from seasonal depression. Over 50% of the global population experiences various skin problems that are often untreated due to a lack of resources or the high cost of treatment. This project aims to provide a space within a health center for people who require Light Therapy and/or Phototherapy treatment.

The space consists of various modules with movable conical surfaces of different sizes, capable of capturing as much sunlight as possible. If sunlight does not reach a module, a rail mechanism moves the modules within a circumferential perimeter to capture the sunlight. This ensures the modules are never without light, allowing them to be used year-round and anywhere in the world.

Some modules contain a blue filter (UVA-UVB light) that reflects absorbed light in blue to treat the aforementioned conditions. There are two modules with this filter for full-body treatment and two smaller conical structures (focal system) with the same filter for treating specific body parts. These are supported by a seat that encourages patients to stay outdoors under constant medical supervision. The design considers the different treatments each person requires.

Additionally, there is a module dedicated to Light Therapy. This module contains a transparent crystal that allows sunlight to pass through and another crystal that diffuses the light to intensify the amount of light inside. These structures deliver the necessary amount of lux to each patient to improve their skin health.

The primary motivation behind this project is to connect health with nature. We are accustomed to treating illnesses within four walls, without the possibility of being in an open and free environment. Therefore, semi-enclosed spaces are proposed within a designated perimeter, provided it is located in a health facility with access to patios and/or gardens. Although it is a treatment for personal development, it requires constant monitoring by specialists to be effective within the modules.
