Everyone’s color: Light up the slum kids by the kaleidoscope
Dharavi, hidden in the gloomy place behind the prosperous development of Mumbai, India, has no bright and spacious streets, nor sufficient water resources, but only dirty alleys, narrow houses and environment. But even in such a difficult environment, there are still people with strong lives and their own artistic and cultural expressions. We hope to light up the gloomy environment with colorful light spots by capturing sunlight and projecting through kaleidoscope equipment. This kaleidoscope represents our attitude. People with different cultures and values and different status in the world have their own beauty and the right to be recognized.
1. Concern of the kid’s everyday life:
Children always like to observe the world through transparent and bright colored objects, showing their love for life and longing for beauty. We hope to collect water bottles, colored transparent materials, and corrugated cardboard to create a toy for self-expression.
2. Translation from ordinary to beautiful:
A kaleidoscope is a mix and match of ordinary objects, creating new creativity, stimulating creative sparks and spiritual resonance, and forming a sense of unity. This is like using limited materials to cast magic and create new treasures.
3. Mapping the future through everyone’s color:
Under the sunlight, everyone’s colors are able to bloom through the kaleidoscope, where people feel active and mentally comforted, solving the problem of lighting in dark spaces and giving the group a sense of belonging.
