This unique cemetery transforms the cold detachment of traditional graveyards into the warm and comforting presence of the departed, which is its distinctive quality. The reliance of the deceased on the living, and the longing of the living for the departed, find a spiritual connection through the transmission of light. During the day, within a transparent cone, two corresponding transparent spheres are positioned, one above the ground and the other below, resembling the suns simultaneously nurturing two worlds. The surrounding black marble stones are engraved with the names and epitaphs of the deceased. Natural light passes through holes at the base of the cone, creating beams of sacred light that embrace the underground space, as if offering a warm “companionship” from another realm. Some of the light passes through the transparent spheres, emanating diffraction patterns resembling ripples, enveloping the space with hope and courage for the future.
At night, the small spheres equipped with light sensors emit the radiance. With the transition of day and night, the spheres on the ground transform into a dazzling starry sky, where the departed find rest and become countless stars. As the living gaze upon the starry sky, sensing the insignificance and grandeur of life, the commemorated departed continue their spiritual existence here. In the faint glow of the galaxy, they receive eternal grace.
