Located in the Gaza Strip, in Israel, the Project Dwell-Kit emerges as a response to decades of war that have left displaced and vulnerable individuals in its wake. Confronting this reality, a mobile and ephemeral architecture has been conceived to provide essential shelter. This survival kit focuses on harnessing solar light not only as a source of life but also as a fundamental energy resource. Designed to adapt to a wide range of emergency situations, its distribution would be handled by neutral nations, providing a temporary respite amidst war and chaos. During the day, these structures capture and store solar energy to later provide lighting, power, and heating during the night. Our goal is to reach victims by providing them with a modular base that fits their time availability and promoting community collaboration in rebuilding their lives. The Dwell-Kit is a versatile, modular base that adapts to various needs and timeframes, ensuring functionality even in its minimal configuration. Crafted with a sturdy metal base and foam layered with metallized PET film, it offers thermal insulation. Additionally, it harnesses solar power efficiently, facilitated by integrated flexible solar panels set at a 30° angle. Designed with portability in mind, these panels resemble fabric, making transportation a breeze. By losing the habit of going out, not receiving sunlight is reflected in our circadian rhythm, generating physiological and psychological problems. The project, despite not being a direct solution to such a complex issue, is a space that provides security, aiming to restore the idea of a future among materials, not only for young people but for all individuals experiencing these kinds of situations. It’s the idea of not wanting to replicate light, but rather encouraging its dwellers to approach it, seeking to advance life through conflict. The projected kits have the ability to connect with each other, to recreate small communities and allow people to feel the warmth of civilization even if only momentarily. Conceived to comfort vulnerability and strengthen social bonds, this space stands as a refuge for those seeking a sense of belonging and security in a constantly changing world. By providing a physical space that embraces and supports human emotions and needs, a conducive environment is established for the restoration of trust and a sense of community. In a world where words seem inadequate to express the pain and loss suffered by so many, this kit speaks through its comforting presence, offering hope for the future of these individuals.
