Idea: Daylight as the unifying element in learning processes | A Playhouse for Preschool Children
The Problem to be Solved: In today’s world, children are spending less time in nature. Preschool age is a crucial period for development, where children absorb and learn from their environment the most. Several Latvian kindergartens lately have expressed interest in enhancing outdoor activities for their students.
Project Overview: The project features simple cube-houses that serve as greenhouses with a simple shape and design. Houses are easy to manufacture, using various child-safe materials.
Design Features:
- Basic Colors: Some parts of the structure are made in primary colors (blue, yellow, red), teaching children about colors and the principles of color mixing.
- Closer to Nature: Each child has the opportunity to be closer to nature by observing the growth of plants like tomatoes, paprika, and basil from seeds.
- Educational Benefits: Daylight is the unifying element in these learning processes. Children will observe how daylight changes colors throughout the day, how it affects plant growth, and how it reflects in the environment. At the heart of this experience is the child, learning and understanding these natural processes.
