A refuge of light, a place of hope

Concept

How many times do we feel distressed without knowing which direction we should take? Without a guide to help us take our path? How many times do we ask ourselves “is it worth it?” The truth is that we all need hope during our journey as existing beings and a light to guide us.

Project

This refuge of light aims to accompany the individual during their journey where, in the end, hope is found. The project becomes a dialogue between the individual’s sensations and the projection of light onto the object. It is intended to emphasize communication and exterior-interior transition.

Route

The spiral path symbolizes the different difficulties we have to face to reach our goal. The effect of the zenithal light created throughout this means that hope is not always lost, the journey is worth it and no matter how difficult it is, we will find the light that will serve as our guide.

Influence

The complete set aims to be accessible to different communities, symbolizing the importance of managing light within any designed object and how this management affects the individual’s experience.
1. Create a social space for local residents;
2. Create effects on the object and provide different sensations to the observer;
3. On-site production.

Material

The object is made up of walls made of compressed earth blocks, which enable on-site production, covered by a metal structure attached to the load-bearing walls using steel tubes.
